The opening of the Field Institute and Urban Commons’ exhibit

The opening of the Field Institute and Urban Commons’ exhibit

Last Thursday the 2nd July marked the opening of the Field Institute. Urban Commons was there to help celebrate the occasion and launch our latest exhibit.

The Field Institute is a new initiative from the team that bought you Locavore Editions; the produce guide that reconnects producers and consumers. The Field institute continues this great work through a focus on design-led research, communications and strategy for the food and agriculture sector.

The institute launched with the third exhibition in the Zoom series, curated by Ewan McEoin. Zoom brings together hundreds of responses by leaders of food innovation and sustainability throughout Victoria to the question “how might we feed our future city”. The exhibition will continue to grow over time as visitors are encouraged to participate and imagine how we can create a progressive food future for Melbourne.

The night also marked the arrival of Urban Commons’ latest foodscape installation. The Field Institute will display our innovative system of modular planters and integrated seating on an ongoing basis. The garden will change over time and provide a platform for experimentation into new ways to green our urban spaces.

If you would like to preview the garden, please contact us directly to arrange an appointment.
